KI6FEO Repeaters - technical details & geek stuff
442.725 - Stockton, CA
The KI6FEO 442.725 repeater is located at 3500 ft MSL on a hill above Stockton, CA. The system operates on 442.725, with an input of 447.725 and a PL tone of 77 Hz.
This repeater uses an RC100 controller, which operates two Motorola Mitrek UHF radios. One radio is the main 440 repeater radio, set to a "DOD approved" 5-watts transmitter output power. The other Mitrek is a 420 MHz UHF link radio (422.640/425.640) which is configured for full-duplex. This allows the repeater to be the "hub" of the A.R.R.G.'s Northern California repeater system.
A Diamond 15-element Yagi antenna is used for the output of the repeater, aimed presently at Stockton. The receive antenna is a Comet GP-9 (omni directional). The 420 link antenna is a pair of 10-element Diamond Yagis, one aimed east towards Mt. Bullion and the other aimed towards Sacramento for the N6JER Echolink link and the repeater on 147.120.
The repeater is powered by an Astron regulated power supply.
Presently, the repeater is linked via the 420 radio to the KG6KKV Mt Bullion repeater on 442.675, which in-turn ties it to the A.R.R.G. repeaters in Bakersfield , enabling a ham to work this same group of repeaters from the Grapevine all the way north past Sacramento!
440.600 - Fresno / Modesto / King City
This repeater is located high in the San Benito Mountains above Fresno. At approximately 4900 feet MSL, it has phenomenal coverage in the Central Valley, especially along Hwy 99 and Interstate 5 from Bakersfield to Stockton. It also covers the King City, Monterey and the South Bay Area. It has a plus offset (input 445.600) and a PL of 67 Hz. It is open to all licensed amateur operators.
The repeater uses a commercial-grade Station-Master high-gain vertical transmit and receive antenna. The radios are Motorola Mitrek and the output of the repeater is 15w into the antenna. The receiver is utilizing a pre-amplifier to ensure the best reception possible. There is also a full-duplex 420 MHz link radio setup for tie-in to the A.R.R.G. network.
The transmitter site features backup generator power to ensure operation during power outages and emergencies.
442.950 - Rocklin / Roseville, CA
This is a low-level repeater located in Rocklin near Stanford Ranch and West Oaks. It serves most of Rocklin and a good portion of Roseville with handheld coverage. Mobile hams can easily work it west to Sacramento and east to Granite Bay.
The repeater operates TX/RX with a single, high-gain vertical antenna (similar to a Diamond X200) mounted about 25 feet above ground level. It uses a Mitrek UHF radio and a 4-can duplexer. This repeater features a pre-amp on the receiver so it hears quite well in the Rocklin area, but due to it's low alititude range is fairly limited, especially on handheld radios.
The Rocklin/Roseville repeater is currently tied into the A.R.R.G. repeater network via a 420MHz link to the Stockton 442.725 repeater. The link transmit/receiver uses a small Yagi antenna.
As with all of the KI6FEO repeaters, this is OPEN to all licensed amateur operators.
